Some judges allow legal notices via Facebook

Individuals in Pennsylvania may be interested to learn that a woman was allowed to serve divorce papers using Facebook when she was unable to locate her husband by other means. After attempts to locate the man by phone and email and even a private detective failed, a judge approved her use of Facebook since the man was active on the site.

How is custody or visitation determined for same sex couples?

On May 20, 2014, same-sex couples in Pennsylvania were granted the freedom to marry. And without a stay accompanying the ruling, marriages could commence among same-sex couples immediately. With freedom to marry also comes the ability to divorce and, as with any separating couple, issues regarding children are of the utmost concern.

Wife's illness may be detrimental to marriage

Pennsylvania couples may be interested to learn that a wife's poor health may lead to a greater chance of the couple divorcing. The Iowa State study analyzed approximately 2,700 marriages, and the research team was able to determine how a serious illness would affect the outcome of a marriage by reviewing information that spanned two decades. The data indicated that when a wife was diagnosed with a serious illness, there was a 6 percent greater chance that the couple divorced.
