On May 6, actress Kaley Cuoco and professional tennis player Ryan Sweeting officially became divorced. Pennsylvania tv fans may know that the pair got married on Dec. 31, 2013 in a wedding themed for fire and ice after just three months of dating, but she filed for divorce in September 2015.

After a 21-month marriage, it took about nine months for the couple to settle the divorce, with an existing prenuptial agreement being taken into account. Court documents stipulate that the 30-year-old “Big Bang Theory” star will pay her 28-year-old ex $165,000 in two payments for spousal support. Additionally, she will cover up to $55,000 of his attorney fees and settle an outstanding bill of $9,387 for Sweeting’s prenup-related legal services. Although this means that Cuoco owes him a total of nearly $250,000, she will keep their homes in Tarzana and Santa Barbara, California, and the rest of her millions.

A source told reporters shortly after the couple announced the divorce that they had both seemed miserable after the honeymoon phase ended. During the months afterward, Cuoco kept busy with friends, shooting in a CBS series and equestrian competitions. Later, she was not shy to admit that she started dating a professional equestrian and has posted photos of him and herself on Instagram. On a flight to New York City from San Diego, the couple were reportedly seen cuddling in first class.

When marriages do not work out, the divorcing spouses could decided to separate for a while before they legally end their union. When they choose to divorce, they do not have to go through divorce litigation to do it. Divorcing spouses may try to reconcile their differences out of court through mediation to save time and money, and they are each entitled to have separate legal representation throughout the process.
