Custody dispute spills over into Walmart parking lot

Given the amount of emotion that couples in Harrisburg invest in their marriages (and the eventual growth of their families), it should come as little surprise that divorce proceedings can see those emotions boil over and prompt actions the reasonable people otherwise would not engage in.

This is especially true when it comes to custody issues. Already facing the end of their relationships with their spouses, divorcing parents may not be able to accept the potential of having their bonds with their children broken as well. This potential can often lead to ugly incidents that can scar all those involved.

A custody dispute goes public

All involved include not only parents and their children, but also those who happen to be either directly or indirectly drawn into a custody battle. In the case of a feuding New York couple, that included a group of onlookers at a Walmart parking lot. Witnesses summoned authorities after an argument broke out between the two. That argument eventually escalated to the father attempting to forcibly remove his young son from his mother’s arms. Law enforcement authorities arrested the man and eventually charged him with endangering the welfare of a child.

Avoiding ugly custody disputes

Incidents such as this may damage the chances of those who become embroiled in them from securing the outcomes they are hoping for in their custody cases. They also can no doubt cause trauma to the children who have to witness their parents at their worst. The hope is that both sides can set aside their emotions and work together to come up with an arrangement that is agreeable to all parties. While this certainly may be easier said than done, having the assistance of an experienced family law attorney may go a long way towards making it happen.
